Ending of Windows 10, What Does it Mean?

Updated filename: window-10-endings-tsts.jpg.

After nearly a decade of service, Microsoft is officially ending support for Windows 10 on October 14, 2025. What does this mean for your business? This means no more security updates, bug fixes, or technical support—leaving any remaining devices at risk. While your computer won’t stop working immediately, it will become less reliable and more vulnerable to risks.

Why This Matters

Unsupported operating systems become vulnerable to cyberattacks, software incompatibilities, and compliance issues. For businesses, this can mean downtime, data breaches, or even legal liability if sensitive data is exposed. These are things no business owner wants to hear. At Twin State Technical Services, we’re helping clients navigate this transition with strategic planning, software compatibility checks, and bulk upgrade services.

Extended Security Updates (ESU)

Microsoft offers an Extended Security Update (ESU) program for $30, which provides security updates for one year after Windows 10 support ends. However, this program does not include other technical support. While ESU can be a temporary solution, it’s not a long-term fix. TSTS can save you money and a headache in the long run with upgrading your system to Windows 11.

The Risks of Staying on Windows 10

  1. Cybersecurity Threats: Without regular security updates, your system becomes an easy target for cyberattacks.
  1. Software Incompatibility: New software and updates may not be compatible with Windows 10, leading to functionality issues.
  1. Compliance Issues: Many industries have regulations requiring up-to-date software. Running an unsupported OS could result in non-compliance and potential fines.
  1. Operational Downtime: System failures and vulnerabilities can lead to significant downtime, affecting productivity and revenue.

At Twin State Technical Services, we offer a comprehensive approach to help you transition smoothly:

  1. Strategic Planning: We assess your current systems and develop a customized migration plan.
  1. Software Compatibility Checks: Ensuring all your critical applications will work seamlessly with the new OS.
  1. Bulk Upgrade Services: Efficiently upgrading multiple devices to minimize disruption to your business operations.

The end of Windows 10 support is a critical juncture for businesses. Proactively planning your transition can save you from potential risks and ensure your operations continue smoothly.
